After years of juggling multiple side projects, I’ve decided to hit the pause button on a few of them. These projects, while fun and educational, weren’t generating any income. I learned a lot working on them, but I had to weigh the cost of renewing domains, maintaining infrastructure, and dedicating more time. In the end, it just didn’t feel sustainable.
WorkoutTools
This was an AI-powered personal trainer designed to help users reach their fitness goals faster. The idea was simple: give people personalized workout plans based on their goals, track records, and available equipment. While Workout Tool offered a more unique and customizable approach, the market is flooded with similar tools, and the competition was fierce.
I didn’t see it making enough of a dent to justify further investment, especially since I couldn’t get myself to invest in its marketing and promotion.
The Random Tools
This was a random generation tool – a fun utility project that allowed users to generate random names, places and various other things (mostly focused on science fiction and fantasy). It was a side project that came out of my love for the subject, and I’ll keep maintaining my Random Generator Unity Asset. However, with little traffic and no good way to monetize it, it’s time to let this one go too.
I’d rather focus my energy on fewer, more impactful projects where I can see growth, both financially and creatively. It’s always tough to let go, but sometimes that’s the best path forward.
