Shipping On-Screen Keyboard 1.7: Suggestions, Shared Layouts, and a New-Language Wizard

On-Screen Keyboard now makes it easier to help players type, reuse layout designs, and add new languages without starting from scratch.

Suggestions that fit your input flow

Version 1.7 adds a drop-in suggestion bar with pooled buttons and a configurable candidate limit. Assign a suggestion provider asset—there’s a static word-list provider included—or keep using an existing ISuggestionProvider. The new Suggestions demo walks through the setup.

The bar also handles the empty-results case: it collapses when there are no suggestions and comes back when candidates return. External text or provider changes can refresh the list through RefreshSuggestions().

Build on shared layout fragments

Layouts can now include reusable fragments from a LayoutLibrary. Insert a complete fragment with {include:Alias}, or include a particular row with {include:Alias:row=0}. Runtime rendering, validation, linting, and Inspector previews use the same resolver, so the layout you inspect is the layout you get.

Create language setups in the Editor

The new-language wizard generates editable layout and display copies, plus a keyboard prefab wired for shift, caps lock, and symbol switching. It checks inputs and output paths before creating assets, and rolls back generated files if setup fails. English templates are included; you’ll still need to translate the content for your language.

The update also rounds out documentation and adds Play Mode integration coverage for real TMP input, composition, layout switching, suggestions, and includes.
