Shipping Random Selector 1.5: Save Selector Setup and Explore Advanced Sampling

Random Selector now lets you save and restore selector configuration, making it easier to keep weighted tables alongside the rest of your game data.

Persist the table, restore the runtime

Selector items and integer weights can now round-trip through Unity’s JsonUtility. Optional Newtonsoft.Json helpers are available when that package is installed, and an Odin formatter is available with ODIN_INSPECTOR.

After loading, the selector rebuilds its cached selection data lazily on the first draw. Saves contain the configured items and weights—not event listeners, random-source instances, custom algorithm factories, or cached tables. Restore those runtime dependencies separately, and save random-generator state alongside the selector if you need to resume the exact same sequence.

Try advanced selection patterns

The updated Advanced Features sample brings builders and presets, algorithms, selection policies, random-source state, and analytics into one interactive scene. Configure weights, seeds, filters, cooldowns, pity settings, and draw counts in the Inspector, then compare Alias Method, Roulette Wheel, and Stochastic Universal Sampling with the same table and seed.

The update also expands serialization tests and refreshes the project and dependencies for Unity 6. Existing weighted-selection APIs and the default Alias Method path remain in place.
